The training event over three days was an intense course involving lectures, surgeries and ‘hands-on’. The course covered 'Static Guided Surgery, Dynamic Navigation and Immediate Function - Aesthetics' and was delivered with great passion by Prof. Alessandro Pozzi. The standard of work presented, and Nobel Biocare product delivered to patients was breathtaking. Prof. Pozzi is a true Nobel Biocare leader in innovation in the field of digital implant surgery and dentistry. His enthusiasm was infectious and he certainly energised me onto the next level of my implant career.
The course focused on the capturing of real and virtual information for treatment planning using DTX implant (Nobel Clinician) and linking in with the new DTX studio platform.
Several live surgeries were undertaken using static guided techniques and dynamic navigation. The high-light of the course personally was witnessing dynamic surgery using the X-Guide. The X-Guide allows precision guided surgery, using low drill speeds with new burs on each occasion, to allow accurate placement within 5 degree’s thus optimising aesthetics and consequently survival rates after ten years. Free hand surgery is reportedly 15/20 degrees off the ideal planned position usually and so in my pursuit for excellence the X-Guide has a place in my surgery. The implant is also calibrated, and insertion is dynamically navigated.
These are exciting times for Nobel Biocare surgeons, restorative clinicians and more importantly patients.
I am delighted to have brought the X-Guide to Ireland and look forward to sharing my experiences with the SmileTube dentists starting their implant journey at Castle Clinic Dalkey. Finally, I would like to thank all at the Nobel Biocare UK/Ireland team who helped to make the course a great success and Prof. Pozzi for sharing his knowledge, his time, effort and hospitality.
